A beautiful, sunny day, starting off in the morning. It was warm, and great conditions for a surfing lesson. I would have tried, if my left arm had strength. If only I would be able to get back up onto my surf board...Maybe one day.
Before we set off to the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy, I called the Old Lahaina Luau and added our names to the waitlist for that evening. While they were sold out until next week, I thought I would try in case there were cancellations.
The two hour surf lesson started at 10:30am. We walked over to a beach park nearby, and I viewed from the beach and another rock jetty(?) area. I received a phone call from OLL with news that there was room for us that night, so that was great news.

It was so hot, and I was getting tired...but we had to eat lunch afterwards. A late lunch, yet again! We decided to go somewhere nearby, on the way back towards the condo to rest. We chose Aloha Mixed Plates, which was actually immediately next to the OLL. Had to try some loco moco, which was delicious here. Even though we were sharing the plate and an appetizer, it was SO much food.

After lunch, we were tired and just wanted to relax at the condo before heading back to the same spot for the OLL. At the condo, we were lounging about on the chairs by the ocean, and then TURTLES. My day was made again. I spent maybe 45 minutes watching them (there were two) come up and breath and swim so close to the shore. One was huge. Unfortunately the sun was really strong at this point, and I could feel my skin burning up most of the time. But, turtles!

Turtle by the condo! |
Eventually I had to leave. We got ready for the luau, where we'd be gorging ourselves with food yet again.
It was a beautiful place, and the sunset and evening were perfect. The layout is really nice, and I liked that there are many different "stations". There were stations on making poi, nets, wood carving, and kahlua pig unearthing.

Pig reveal! |
We were seated on the very side, so it was a little tough to see the performers on the stage. But, the main performance was after dinner anyways, and we were eventually moved up to be closer to the stage.
There was a huge buffet, and we were the first to get food! :) I really liked the poke, they had an octopus one as well as an ahi tuna one.

I really enjoyed the Tahitian dancing, such fast paced movements! It was very entertaining to watch. It was an eventful last night before we head back home.
